The Idea Here is Simple

Create your own learning experiences. Create to Learn or Learn through Creating. And that is what I am doing here. I want to hone my eLearning skills; so, I will be creating and learning how to incorporate different forms eLearning to grow professionally. Humans have been doing this for a long time but for one reason or another have a difficult time separating learning from an educational institution. All too often, learning is only associated with specified learning events – like trainings, professional development, coursework, certificates, college degrees, online courses, and so on. Learning cannot be thought of as a single event; instead, learning should be thought of as an inherent part of life, which isn’t relegated to a specific period of time or place.

“We have to go from what is essentially an industrial model of education, a manufacturing model, which is based on linearity and conformity and batching people. We have to move to a model that is based more on principles of agriculture. We have to recognize that human flourishing is not a mechanical process; it’s an organic process. And you cannot predict the outcome of human development. All you can do, like a farmer, is create the conditions under which they will begin to flourish.”  – Sir Ken Robinson

Linearity and conformity is part of education but not always part of learning. With that said, I want to create my own learning experience this summer and for years to come. This blog will house my informally strategic work toward creating my own learning.

Every act of creation is first an act of destruction. – Pablo Picasso

Destroy preconceived notions of what learning should be and create your own learning experiences. What will you create and what will you learn?
