Who am I
Learning Professional.
My name is Dan Gibson, and I am a learning professional currently in a Talent Development Manager position for a financial institution. In my current role, I lead our instructional design team, talent development initiatives - including our leadership development program and career development initiatives, manage compliance training delivery, and support our internal client's annual business initiatives. In this role, I aim to make our talent better with everything intervention implemented.
As a continuous learner, I earned my Masters of Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology from Purdue University, and I am also a Certified Professional in Talent Development through the ATD. In my career, I have held the title of a Public School Teacher, Technology Integration Specialist, Instructional Designer, eLearning Developer, and Talent Development Manager. Over the last 15 years, I have trained, coached, led development projects, presented our initiatives to leadership, and developed instructional materials/content for various stakeholders within the public schools and corporate setting.
I truly enjoy flexing my creative muscles and thinking outside of the traditional realm of education to provide effective, agile, and action-oriented solutions that net tangible results.
Learn, Create, and Iterate
Creating my own learning experiences is part of how I develop effective solutions for others, and this creation helps keep my skills fresh. My passion is thinking through performance problems or change initiatives in order to come up with creative, effective instructional activities.
All too often, learning is only associated with specified learning events - like trainings, professional development, coursework, certificates, college degrees, online courses, and so on. Once finished with the event, learning seems to slow or stop.
Learning cannot be thought of as a single event; instead, learning should be thought of as an inherent part of life, which isn't relegated to a specific period of time or place. And so, this site is for my own reflective and creative learning projects.
Create to Learn.
